This research investigates the effect of Kookhak-Qigong program on the heart rate variability (HRV) and serotonin level in blood for elderly women. We designed a training program that consists of 2 sessions of 60 minutes training per week for 10 weeks against 40 elderly women, randomly divided into the experimental group (20) and control group (20). After the 10 weeks of training, the SDNN Index, RMSSD, and pNN50 results showed that the average HRV of the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group. The concentration of Serotonin level as an indication of depression was significantly increased in the experimental group than the control group. These results show that Kookhak-Gigong program increases the biological resilience against stress in elderly women, alleviates depression, and helps in improving physiological health conditions.
